Some Worldwide Projects and other Initiatives at the EXPO 2000 have started a new phase at the end of this Exposition. They want to contribute to the networking worldwide of the different actors through understanding and further exchange.

The Initators thank the EXPO organizers for their immense contribution - and particularly for including in the programme for the first time many valuable and future oriented projects from all over the world. With this fact, they have made available for the visitors of the EXPO -and the general public - the teasures of know-how and practical experience, represented by these projects. 

After the end of the EXPO 2000, it is intend to use the knowledge and the experience of these projects in the further development worldwide of Local Agenda 21 (Rio 1992). The Initators would like to expand the process by swapping results of implementation between projects. This process will include the objectives of the Earth Charter (Rio+5, 1997) and Best Practices (Habitat II, Istanbul 1996, Dubai 1998 & 2000) to tie up with international standards.

The central theme of our co-operation endeavours to respect the differences among the actors as well as the will to meet on equal terms. This means that exchange of opinions between the political, business and civil society stakeholders takes place on a level of equality in the future. Herewith, the chances of a higher quality are assured in the balancing out of divergent interests - for everyone involved.

Weltweite Projekte und Initiativen auf der EXPO 2000 starten heute mit dem Ende der EXPO einen Neubeginn. Sie möchten zu einem weltweiten Netzwerk beitragen, um Verständigung und zukünftigen Austausch unter den verschiedenen AkteurInnen weiterzuführen und zu vertiefen.

Die InitiatorInnen danken der EXPO GmbH für ihr grosses Engagement und besonders dafür, dass es ihr gelungen ist, ersmals beachtenswerte und zukunftsweisende Projekte, auch dezentrale, zum Programm werden zu lassen. Damit ist es gelungen, den BesucherInnen und der öffentlichkeit einen grossen Schatz an weltweitem Wissen und praktischen Erfahrungen vor Ort zugänglich zu machen.

Nach dem Ende der EXPO geht es nun darum, dass das Wissen und die Erfahrung dieser Projekte jetzt für die Lokale Agenda 21 (Rio 1992) weltweit nutzbar gemacht wird. Die InitiatorInnen wollen den nun anstehenden Prozess der ergebnisoffenen Vernetzungsarbeit voranbringen. Sie wollen dabei die Leitlinien der Earth Charter ( Rio+5, 1997) sowie Best Practices (Habitat II, Istanbul 1996, Dubai 1998 & 2000) als internationalen Standard berücksichtigen.

Im Mittelpunkt der Zusammenarbeit stehen der Respekt vor der Unterschiedlichkeit der AkteurInnen sowie der Wille zu einer Begegnung von Gleich zu Gleich. Das heisst: Die zukünftige Meinungsbildung der AkteurInnen aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft findet auf gleicher Ebene statt. Damit eröffnet sich die Chance einer höherwertigen Qualität im Interessensausgleich zum Nutzen aller.
